A New Member Benefit

11 Aug 2026 11:16 | Anonymous

The Heavy Transport Association is delighted to welcome Attara as Affiliate Member

As part of our commitment to delivering practical benefits and added value to HTA members, we are pleased to introduce Attara and the specialist support they can offer to operators in managing fuel price exposure.

Attara are an FCA-authorised firm specialising in fuel price risk management for the transport and logistics sector.

With fuel prices having experienced significant volatility this year, we believe Attara’s expertise could provide a particularly valuable benefit to HTA members. We are therefore pleased to share their introduction below.

As many operators will know all too well, fuel is one of the largest variable costs across the transport sector.  It has also been a particularly turbulent year, with diesel prices moving from around 117ppl in January to almost 160ppl in April, before falling back to approximately 137ppl today (ex VAT)

This volatility can make it difficult to budget accurately, price individual jobs or quote fixed rates with confidence, particularly when there is an expectation that fuel prices may remain elevated and volatile for some time.

This is where Attara can help – and where HTA members can benefit from their specialist expertise.

Attara supports operators in managing their exposure to fuel price movements, including helping them to lock in or cap the market-driven element of diesel, HVO and marine gas oil (MGO) costs for an agreed period.

The objective is straightforward: to turn an unpredictable cost into a more predictable one, providing greater budget certainty, helping protect margins and giving operators greater confidence when tendering for fixed-price work.

It is not about speculating on fuel prices. Rather, it is about using established risk-management tools to provide greater certainty around one of the industry's most significant operating costs.

Attara work with operators to:-

  • Identify how much fuel price exposure exists within their contracts and overall cost base.
  • Model the potential impact of different fuel price movements on budgets and margins.
  • Assess how effectively existing fuel escalator clauses are recovering increases in fuel costs.
  • Where appropriate, fix or cap the market-driven element of diesel, HVO or MGO costs for a defined period, helping to protect margins against adverse price movements.

An exclusive opportunity for HTA members

As part of their affiliation with the HTA, Attara are offering every HTA member a complimentary, no-obligation 10-minute call to discuss their individual fuel exposure.

There is no commitment to proceed beyond the initial conversation. The purpose is simply to give members the opportunity to understand their exposure, explore the options available and establish whether fuel price risk management could provide a benefit to their business.

For operators with significant fuel consumption, particularly those working on fixed-price, tendered or longer-term contracts, this could be a valuable opportunity to explore ways of gaining greater certainty over one of their largest operating costs.

We are pleased to be able to offer this as another practical benefit of HTA membership and encourage members to take advantage of the opportunity to speak with Attara and see whether their expertise could work for your business.

Attara can be contacted directly through Edward Regazzacci edward@attara.co
